Puerto's
coast line is not only beautiful, but full of life. Manta rays leap
out of the water and dance with surfers waiting for the next wave. Spinner
Dolphins, and Spotter Dolphins playing with the pongas jetting around
the blue. Hundreds of schools of fish just passing by tickling the legs
of swimmers. Fishermen cast their nets from the shore and rarely pull
it back empty. Dorado, tuna, sailfish, marlin, jack, pampano, and hundreds
of other kinds of fish are plentiful in front of Puerto, which makes
it an ideal spot for sport fishermen. In fact, the fishing is so consistant
that there are two annual fishing tournaments: in November the Sailfish
Tournament, and in February the Tuna Tournament. Both are well attended.

Charters
There are many different privately-owned boats that are available
for charter trips. Rates are extremely reasonable, and the captains
are always willing to share their favorite "fishing holes"
with travelers. Upon returning, the day's catch can be taken to a
palapa and prepared to specifications, taken home, or simply given
away. Often there's enough to do all of these things. No fisherman
could starve in Puerto.
