riding horses

Any time, any day and so many places to go. There are a number of places where locals on Zicatela Beach, La Punta, Punta Colorada and in the foothills supply horses. Puerto Escondido is an ideal place to enjoy horseback riding. Whether with a group or solo, a novice or a bare backing galloper. The Cabelleros (Horse dudes) have horses for everybody.

Zicatela
On the way to Playa Principal, there is a palapa with horses under it most of the day. You can go with the caballero or on your own. You don't need anything to ride just some cash, and maybe some yoga afterwards. Its sad to say, but these guys tend not to take pride in their horses or they just can't afford to feed them well.
Prices: 100 pesos an hour per person

El Caballero de la Punta
On the main road to la Punta take a left at the bus stop or after. Take the right where you see a large wooden sign "el Cabellero". There is a beautiful garden in front of his house. His horses are treated with love, are easy and not too timid. Miguel Antonioli is the owner of these beautiful creatures. He has four astonishing caballos. He is available for private lessons and tours at anytime. It doesn't matter if your five yrs old or fifty, a first timer or an expert. The questions are; Where do you want to ride? What do you want to learn? Do you feel like taking your family on excursion to ruins that only locals know about?
Riding Lessons and Tours

Rio Colotepec is a wide slow moving river, most of the season, surrounded by lush wetlands. Once in you've reached the river have the choice to swim, take pictures, or explore. Birds typical to wetland areas are everywhere, local barra kids swimming, this area is very rich with life. You make you're way back through the mouth of the river around the point by the beach.
